Assessments
Educational assessments help parents understand how their child is performing across key academic and developmental areas. These assessments provide age and grade-level equivalents for important academic and developmental areas. At Brighter Futures, we use a variety of formal and informal academic and cognitive assessments. Academic areas evaluated may include math fluency, spelling, vocabulary, reading comprehension, phonemic awareness, and problem-solving skills. Developmental areas evaluated may include language, adaptive, and motor skills. After the evaluation, parents receive a detailed report summarizing the assessments and results. The report also includes recommended strategies that can be used at home to help close learning and developmental gaps, along with referrals to additional service providers if further support is desired.

Educational therapy
Educational therapy is a clinical level of tutoring specific to children with various learning barriers. At Brighter Futures, students will first complete a short intake evaluation; this will allow the therapist to accurately create a treatment plan to help the child close academic gaps. Next, students will begin weekly sessions in a 1:1 setting based on their individualized treatment plan. Sessions last 50-60 minutes. Students will be re-evaluated every 6-8 months to determine progress and new goals. The Educational Therapist will also work as a case manager and advocate for the child by communicating and collaborating with allied professionals in the child's life such as speech therapists or special education teachers.

small
groups
Small group educational therapy provides the same expert academic intervention as 1:1 educational therapy. Small groups allow students to work on social skills and engage in more hands-on and collaborative activities while also gaining academic skills. It also provides a more affordable option for families who need it. Each student in the group will complete a re-evaluation annually to determine progress and new goals. The Educational Therapist will work as a case manager and advocate for each child by communicating and collaborating with allied professionals in the child's life such as speech therapists or special education teachers.
